Last weekend, James Street looked a little bit different, adding Five by Flynn to its lineup. The Sydney brand debuted its very first Brisbane pop-up, and we can confirm it was nothing short of a success. At WINK, we dropped in to experience the activation firsthand, and let’s just say we got more than we bargained for.

An atmosphere reflective of the brand’s take on resort wear silhouettes and street wear styling was reflected through the curation of the pop-up. This intention was woven through the effective placement of pieces throughout the store.

The team showcased a selection of their winter 25 collection, comprising outerwear, shirts, pants and headwear featuring the signature 05. The effortless incorporation of decorative pieces such as a trio of suitcases, a Polaroid camera, a selection of books and custom Bobby drinks all fit right into the contemporary nature of the brand.

During the pop-up, we had a quick chat with the man behind the movement, Louie Collins, founder of Five by Flynn.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Louie expressed his pride in the growth of the brand and its ongoing development. Collins shared that, in the beginning, he was just trying to understand it himself.

With the brand now going on six years as Five by Flynn finds its footing beyond Sydney lines, he hinted that expansion is definitely on his mind.

As Brisbane itself enters a bold era of cultural, dining, and retail expansion, the idea of a permanent Five by Flynn flagship in the river city doesn’t feel so far-fetched.

With more stores going independent, and the youth pivoting towards vintage, curated and conscious shopping, a homegrown label like this fits the mood, don’t you think?
